Hi, I’m Phu

I paint to bring the unseen into form: soft portals, quiet truths, and the in-between moments that live within us all.

When I’m not in the studio, I’m sharing joy and connection through my charcoal workshops, where creativity meets play.

The Holiday Fund

I started this idea from missing traveling overseas and also the desire to make original art affordable. One Jetstar sale later, we have tickets to Vietnam but we still need to save for spending, hotels, food and activities. The goal is to paint 18 A3ish sized paintings on paper every week. Released every Friday, they’re a fun way for me to experiment on a smaller scale while offering my art at lower prices. Every dollar raised from the paintings in this collection goes directly to funding our trip.

FIELDS OF BECOMING

FIELDS OF BECOMING

Abstract floral painting with pastel pink and white flowers, and dark green foliage on a textured background of blue, pink, beige, and gold hues.

"Fields of Becoming" is a collection born entirely from intuition. No sketches, no plans, just the raw freedom of play. These works mark a turning point in my practice, where I let go of control and allowed the medium to lead.

Painted on archival oil paper using a mixture of: acrylic, charcoal, spray paint and textured mediums — each piece is a quiet conversation between the unknown and the unfolding. There are moments of joy, stillness, chaos, and light. This body of work feels like a threshold, a place between where I was and what’s coming next.

As I created these, I felt like I was tending to a garden that had always been there — I just hadn’t paused long enough to see it bloom.

Abstract painting with swirls of blue, pink, green, black, yellow, and red, featuring a red spiral and splatters of paint.
Abstract colorful painting with various brushstrokes and shapes, including green hill, pink and yellow flowers, dark tree, and a blue sky.
Abstract colorful painting with splashes of pink, purple, blue, green, and gold in an expressive, textured style.

More than representation, my work is a soft unraveling. A way of feeling through colour and texture, reaching for something sacred and unseen.
